Face Mapping

What is Face Mapping?

Evolving from Traditional Chinese Medicine, face mapping can be traced back thousands of years. The art of face mapping rejects the idea of treating skin in general terms and instead suggests that we can divide it into distinct zones. Each of these zones corresponds with an internal organ and should be treated for its own unique needs and problems.

How to Face Map Using Irene Forte Skincare

Problems: Congested T-Zone, fine lines under eye area and dry cheeks and chin

Lavender & Rosemary Foaming Cleanser

A common skincare problem is a congested T-zone - this is the area across your forehead and down the bridge of your nose. We would recommend using our Lavender & Rosemary Foam Cleanser to cleanse the face. This cleanser is the perfect product for clearing up those congested areas with its anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties. Lavender Water is an antioxidant for the skin, helping to protect from free radicals present in the environment. It also shrinks pores whilst having a soothing effect. Rosemary Oil helps to balance the skin, lighten dark spots and remove blemishes, resulting in an improved complexion. Finally, the presence of algae works to reinforce barrier function, soothe and brighten the skin.

Almond Cleansing Milk

For the eye area, cheeks and chin, we would recommend passing over with a second cleanse using the Almond Cleansing Milk. Sweet Almond Oil provides the skin with essential fatty acids including Oleic, Linoleic, and Palmitic Acids which hydrate the skin. It also helps to reduce signs of ageing and relieve redness and inflammation with Zinc and Vitamins E and B. Rose Oil is deeply regenerating and hydrating, whilst the addition of Jojoba Oil is perfect for sensitive skin. Last but not least, it contains Aloe Leaf Juice, which is rich in antioxidants and protects and soothes the skin.

Lemon Toner

We would recommend using our Lemon Toner on the T-zone area; infused with Lemon, Grapefruit, Apple, Witch-Hazel and Rose Water to help brighten and purify this area.

Helichrysum Hyaluronic Toner

Use the Helichrysum Hyaluronic Toner for the eye area, cheeks and chin. Formulated with Helichrysum Water, Hyaluronic Acid, White Wine extract and Amino Acids, it helps to slow down the ageing process, antioxidise and hydrate the skin. Toners are important because they balance the PH of the skin, but they also remove the calc that is present in tap water.

Hibiscus Serum

We would then suggest that you use the Hibiscus Serum all over the face, neck and décolleté. We recommend never skipping this step because serums are made up of a smaller molecular formula allowing their active ingredients to penetrate the deeper layers of the skin. Our Hibiscus Serum is formulated with Hibiscus and Green Pea Polypeptide extracts, Wild Rose and Witch-Hazel Water, as well as Hyaluronic Acid, to help tone and give a lifting effect to the skin.

Almond Eye Cream

Add the Almond Eye Cream under the eye area to help reduce fine lines, and refresh the eye area. Enriched with Sweet Almond oil, Aloe Leaf Juice and Hyaluronic Acid, it is specifically formulated for this delicate area that is more prone to wrinkles.

Hydrating Aloe Vera Face Cream and Balancing Lavender & Rosemary Face Cream

Use the purifying and balancing Lavender & Rosemary Face Cream around the T-zone area, and the hydrating Aloe Vera Face Cream on the rest of the face (neck and décolleté). You could do the same when you want to apply a face mask; using the balancing Lavender & Rosemary Face Mask on the T-zone area and the Pistachio Face Mask on the rest of the face, neck and décolleté.

How to Read Your Skin

Your face can often tell you what it needs, but here is a simple guide to see if it is telling you something else too...

Forehead – this links to the bladder and digestive system, so a break-out here can be a sign of lack of water or a bad diet.

Between the eyebrows – this is related to the liver, so redness and spots may signify over-consumption of alcohol and rich foods.

Eyes – the eyes link to the kidneys and, whilst dark bags can be hereditary, they are enhanced by dehydration and poor digestion.

Nose – a red nose can signify high blood pressure.

Upper Lip – a congested upper lip can indicate chemicals from lipsticks/liners.

Cheeks – the cheeks link to the lungs; smoking, allergies, respiratory distress all may contribute to congestion of the cheeks.

Chin – premenstrual symptoms and hormonal imbalance from stress can cause breakouts.

Neck and décolleté – this delicate area is the first to portray signs of ageing.
